Ever imagined coffee that’s so nice you could drown yourself in it? No? Then obviously you’ve never visited Coffee Aroma.
Located down the road on the left before the Stonebow Archway (yes I still don’t know what that street is called after 3 years so shush)*, you’ll first think that Coffee Aroma looks more like it should belong in Paris than Lincoln.
It’s bright, funky outside chairs catch your eye, but as soon as you walk inside it’s the cakes that grab your attention. From pecan pie to chunky slabs of caramel shortbread, the delicious treats are endless (don’t eat too many though, those trousers might not fit tomorrow).
When you have actually scanned the very long menu you’ll find that skimmed milk and soy milk are only “available when hell freezes over”. You can however, choose one of Coffee Aroma’s fine filter coffees from another long list. The only problem with this is, unless you know how to pronounce the names, you sound like an absolute fool asking for one.
Once you have finally chosen a cake and coffee you can trundle upstairs to the large seating areas. If you do decide to wander up the creaky stairs you will realise there’s a strange room, sofa and bookcase behind a velvet curtain. This is always a cosy hideaway if you want to avoid the outside world.
However, the larger seating area holds cosy armchairs and board games. What board games, you ask? Well, it’s up to you to go and find out.
*After much researching (well a quick Google), it turns out Coffee Aroma is on Guildhall Street.
