Never Be Alone (With Paris Hilton, Her Voice May Cause Illness)

A picture of Paris Hilton looking away from the camera in a pink wall against a brick wall and blue carpet.

Paris Hilton unveiled a snippet of her new music video on Valentine’s Day (how romantic and thoughtful of her, it’s just what I always wanted).

It’s called Never Be Alone.

We already knew prior to this tune that Paris is never alone, she’s always got that little dog in her handbag, hasn’t she?

Anyway, one YouTube user summed up the sound of the song pretty well, saying:

Kylie Minogue with much autotune.

This is sort of true, because a) it does sound a bit like Kylie with a cold and b) there is without a doubt ‘much autotune’. Sorry Kylie.

She claims during the song that she’ll take us to “new dimensions”. Does she even know what dimensions are? Well, I hope this means a 4-dimensional cinema, as I’ve never been to one of those. The video is a bit sexual. Dirty Paris.

The video also features random appearances from Marilyn Monroe, who of course isn’t actually there – cut scenes of her have just randomly been blended in. This would be quite nice, but as Paris has literally nothing in common with her except hair colour and hopefully only hair colour, we’re quite baffled as to why she’s included Something to do with fashion, apparently.

Throughout the preview, Paris sits on a delightful pink chair that she was perhaps gifted with during a Poundland (or Dollar Tree) Secret Santa. It looks like the sort of thing you might find in a chav‘s back garden in summer.

Oh and the kaleidoscope effects used are a *wonderful* touch.

The lyrics are very repetitive and probably a bit catchy. Whilst it doesn’t appear to have an official release date yet, you might see us raving to it in “da club” fairly soon. Who knows. We can’t wait to see the full video. Hurry up Paris, you tease.

Who Is Loop Cycle?

A picture of Loop Cycle performing

If you’re a regular here at Lincoln & That, you’ll know that a couple of months back we reviewed Liquor. If you’re an even bigger fan, you’ll have read about their open mic night, (every Monday if you missed it).

Recently two fifths of L&T went along to see what was on offer. We received the usual entertainment from local musicians showcasing their acoustic talents.

The organiser came to the stage to let us know that there would be a slight delay before the next act. In true student style, most of the room saw this as the perfect opportunity to replenish their drinks.

What we heard next was definitely unexpected. And unlike anything we’d heard before.

A man on the stage, with a guitar and a computer set up on the floor. Singing into a microphone whilst playing the guitar. Bet you’re wondering why this is so fantastic?

It was then all played back live, on a loop. Impressive right?

Still baffled? Look. Look now.

Loop Cycle plays regularly in the Lincoln area, so if you’re free, pop down and give this unusual genre a listen.

Who Wants To Meet A Vegan Tiger Called Mr I, Taystayness?

Alice (me) and Mr Tay the vegan tiger man. He is wearing a tiger onesie and has a cowboy hat and bee mask on

Well, obviously you do of course.

So yeah, as it says in our wonderful title there. Mr I, Taystayness, or for short, Mr Tay, is a vegan tiger. Yes, you did read that right and your brain isn’t scrambled. He’s a tiger that doesn’t eat meat or any products from animals…

Burns Night Was Last Night

The Liam Robinson Dance Band perform a song.

So how did we at L&T (which we’re increasingly calling ourselves during office meetings, no idea why, it sounds like a Lemonade & Tonic which would be awful), celebrate Burns Night?

Well we didn’t.

We did awkwardly go along to an event at the Lincoln Drill Hall which was in honour of the late poet Robert Burns (well, me and Alice did).

The event was organised by Liam Robinson, who is in charge of a band called “The Liam Robinson Dance Band“, unfortunately he doesn’t play sick David Guetta beats, but he does play some amazing Scottish Ceilidh dancing songs, which is just as good. Not.

It all involved dancing, singing and poetry. The first two of those things that I just wrote actually involved some level of audience participation. Imagine the awkward glances exchanged between myself and Alice as we realised that neither of us knew the lyrics to these traditional folk songs being sung.

Also the dancing was amazing. Alice got to dance with a rather elderly Scottish gentleman, and I had to dance with his wife, who was Canadian-Scottish. They were both surprisingly strong for their age and I was afraid at one moment of “Whipping The Willow” that I would in fact let go and go flying across the room.

Fear not, dear reader, that did not happen, your author is safe for now.

Pixie Lott Has Got Some New Songs Out

This is a picture of Pixie Lott singing.

And they’re really rather good. The first one is called “Heart Cry”, and is a classic Pixie Lott love song, quite a slow beat, and definitely going to be one of those songs which is either on the beginning or end of the forthcoming album, but nice nonetheless.

The other song she’s released is called “Nasty”. I don’t know if she’s going through some sort of ‘third album sexual suggestiveness’ or something here, but it is rather a departure from her previous work.

Prior to this the most sexually suggestive thing she’d done was “What Do You Take Me For”, which was really quite on the line for someone with such a clean image.

Anyway, we’re unashamedly excited for the new album (well I say we, I am, Guppy won’t be, Alice won’t be, and I have no idea of Emily and Luke’s musical tastes at all, but websites like this tend to say “we” a lot so I thought it would be appropriate).

It is nice to hear a song which is aimed at ‘the clubs’ but actually has some level of jazz and trumpets in it though isn’t it.

Also there’s a bit where she gets a little ‘strong’ and goes off the notes (at 2:07) and I don’t like that bit, but other than that it’s a good song, and a worthy addition to any Pixie Lott fan’s repertoire.

I still kind of definitely fancy her quite a lot, which is odd for a gay man, I am aware.

Music “In Da Club” – December 2013

Miley Cyrus looking happy, and innocent.

One of the first posts we ever did on this site was called something along these lines, and I looked at “big club anthems” and what was likely to be played. The irony is that I never go out because I dislike loud, cramped spaces and hot sweaty people standing too close to me.

But I’ve just discovered this which changes my whole view on clubbing.

If Home in Lincoln can play this (or indeed any other equally good establishment, we’re not advertising), it will make my evening and I will start attending nights out.

I can’t help but feel that if Miley Cyrus had released stuff like that to begin with, then we wouldn’t have the problem we’ve got now.

Also, this, “Wideboys Club Remix” of the annoying foetus of pop Conor Maynard has even managed to make one of his more boring songs (and that’s saying something) actually listenable.

Lincoln, you have been challenged. Start playing terrible pop but amazing remixes, then I shall attend your clubs once more.

(Oh yeah, also I don’t like alcohol, which kind of kills it for going out for me).
