What To Expect From The Ritz

Photo: The Ritz via Facebook The Ritz is located above the Weatherspoons and is located off the High Street. The Ritz light up in neon pink and blue lights.

Is Odeon putting a dent in your pocket? Do you still want to go and watch films and not pay extortionate prices? Is that a yes? Well looky here we have the best suggestion for you:

*Drum roll*

The Ritz.

The Ritz is located above the Weatherspoons and is located off the High Street. The Ritz light up in neon pink and blue lights.

Look at that beautiful building.

Located on the High Street, the art deco inspired building was built in the 1930s. (I know. It’s very old but it is pretty swag). It has only re-opened it’s doors two years ago.  The Ritz team are trying to restore the old cinema back to it’s original beauty. (If you want to learn more about the Ritz go to the Facebook page. We weren’t going to type it all out for you).

So, what have they done in the two years that have caught our attention?
– Epic film marathons.
Example: Studio Ghibili films , Batman trilogy, all eight Harry Potter films, Lord of the Rings.
– Musicals, where the audience can dress up.
Example: the Rocky Horror picture, Grease.
– Live events to meet actors.
Example: the sixth Doctor Colin Baker from Doctor Who, the boys from Red Dwarf and the cast of This Is England. (Come on, it seems pretty sweet).
They have a mini shop where you can buy film memorabilia and prints.

So you get the message they have awesome events but what about the cost of all this?

Okay prepare yourself for the moment. Take a seat.

To see one film it costs £5, for a marathon it would roughly be £15 and events to meet actors could range from £15-£25 for an all day event.  So you can meet some of your favourite actors in Lincoln and not having to travel to London for Comic Con. (Also just to add they do, do offers on tickets where it can be buy one get one free).

What about food prices? Well it doesn’t cost £8. It will most likely be less than a £5 depending on what you eating, but they have a bar! An alcoholic bar!  (And we’re still waiting to try the Breaking Bad cocktail…please remember to drink responsibly….and in no way we are promoting alcohol).

So there you have it. Go on the Ritz’s Facebook, check out their events and donate to help restore the old cinema. If any more enquiries contact them, they are a pretty friendly people.

SU Elections Are Open Now!

Picture of a cake with text saying free cake = a vote

It’s that time of year again where we have to vote or just click spoil vote.

So what elections are we talking about?

Considering we’re based in Lincoln, called Lincoln & That and all attend the University of Lincoln, we are talking about none other than the Student Union Elections or SU elections for short.

What do we get, as the people, from this election? Well, home-made cakes (you have to pay for), hugs from  dragons and people bombarding you to vote for their friends. We have a far better strategy.

Winning campaign poster? This would have the votes rolling in…if any of us ever bothered to put ourselves forward.

The other best thing about the SU elections is how creative each candidate can get with their poster. (Sadly, we can’t get our hands on all of them and plus our campaign would be better).

So the big question is how do you vote and why do you vote? You vote because you may know someone running or love voting or you just having nothing else to do. How do you vote? Well, you can either go to the main admin building or go online.

Go and vote or don’t and stick it to the man!

Voting closes on Friday afternoon.

What Not To Do With The Revolving Doors

Very annoying.

On the 7th November, just to be exact, Richard Morris wrote a lovely, little entertaining piece called “Yes, it’s not just you, those revolving doors are annoying.”

We know, we know that you have been waiting for these vlogs since November. Sometimes we just have to wait for the best things in life. Yes, our vlogs are that phenomenal.

Well here is what you have been waiting for.

Superbowl In Lincs

One of the biggest events took place on Sunday 2nd February. It’s called the Superbowl. The Seattle Seahawks vs. Denver Broncos. It was pretty obvious by half time that the Seahawks were going to win, they scored 43 points by the end of the night and only 8 measly points by the Broncos. Continue reading

What To Expect From La Trattoria Da Vincenzo

Photo: Visit Lincoln via Google. La Trattoria Da Vincenzo from the outside. The restaurant name in on a board hanging outside in the Italian colours of red, green and white.

La Trattoria Da Vincenzo pointed on Google Maps. It says 4.7 stars reviewed by eight people.

Where is La Trattoria Da Vincenzo? Well here it is on Google Maps. 4.7 stars and it’s reviewed by 8 people! They can’t be wrong.

Yeah, we can’t pronounce it either, we just call it that Italian Place on West Parade. Or you can try it with a fake Italian accent like Luigi from The Simpsons (just don’t be a racist about it) or let Google Translate do the hard work. (Click on the speaker button). Continue reading
