If the wide array of Christmas adverts & shops full of gift ideas haven’t got you in the mood yet (bah humbug), Lincoln’s got something that’s almost certain to get you feeling festive…even though it’s just November (and Christmas is over a month away, but still).
On Thursday, it’ll be less than 5 weeks to the big day, it’ll also be the night Lincoln finally makes use of those decorations you’ve seen popping up all over the city centre.
St Marks Shopping Centre will be starting the celebrations, with their festivities taking place from 5pm. They’ve got characters from this years pantomime (which is Cinderella, just in case you were wondering), switching the lights on.
But if you’re more interested in the star-studded events, you’ll want to be on the High Street (more specifically outside St Benedict’s Square) from 6pm. You’ll have to contain your excitement for an hour, as after the civic procession, Sue Hodge will be turning on the city lights. Sue is most famous for starring in ‘Allo ‘Allo, so if you’ve not seen it, you’ve almost got a whole 48 hours to find some episodes and see her in action.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, shops will be open until late (perfect for a bit of retail therapy) and we’ll be live blogging the event for those of you who can’t make it.
