What To Expect From Liquor Bar

Those familiar with Lincoln will probably know about Trebles on Saltergate, the cheapest place to get a treble (obviously) and mixer, it’s also the start of many a forgotten night. But, if you venture above this popular bar, you’ll find an absolute gem of a venue.

On first impressions, the staircase smells like a fusty school library, but it’s all worth it when you find yourself in a dark L-shaped room. Down the left are a selection of modern coffee tables, teamed with big, old fashioned looking leather arm chairs and a few sofas. At the bottom, there’s a smallish bar, which leads you round into the main part of the room.

A reasonable sized stage dominates the far end of the room, with a decorative backdrop. The walls are a lovely shade of dark blue, it could easily be mistaken for black, but it’s glittery, like the walls have been painted using a sparkly nail varnish. The rest is nicely furnished with tall tables and some lovely wooden bar stools that have a cream, leathery look upholstery (once I finally got on one, they were so comfortable and I didn’t really  want to leave).

The toilet doors were signposted in a way I’d never seen before, each door displayed a game of Hangman, one showing a female, one a male. A nice touch that added to the quirky atmosphere. You were never far from a drinks menu either, which comes in handy when choosing your next reasonably priced cocktail. Drinks are served in fancy shaped glasses with fruit for that final touch.

They’re open for business several nights a week, including hosting an open mic night.
