On the Tellybox – December 2013

There’s currently a lot of notable programmes on your telly, so we thought, alongside the typical student diet of chilli con carne, pizza, lectures and drinking, that we’d tell you what is on that box in the corner of the room, what’s currently worth watching, and what’s not.

X Factor – ITV Saturday/Sunday 8pm – Probably not worth watching, I personally haven’t watched this in a while, and it’s mainly cause it’s immediately obvious that Sam Bailey will win this year. She’s already the favourite and will probably end up with a Christmas Number 1 thanks to the owner of mediocrity Simon Cowell.

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! – ITV nightly 8:30 or 9pm – This has turned out to still not be a particularly tired format, and is once again alright. We’ve ended up with the same old glamour model, old actors, fashion person, American, idiot & posh people formula, but it’s still pretty enjoyable for some reason. Plus, everyone talks about it, so it’s worth staying in the loop.

Fresh Meat – Channel 4 Monday 10pm – This has returned with a very strong third series, and is in many ways better again than series two, which got a little boring for me. If you’re not watching this as a student, then, what?

Borgen – BBC Four 9pm – Ah, if you watched the first two series of this then you HAVE to watch this season, it’s just getting better and better, but there’s a hint of sadness as this is the final series.

The Tunnel – Sky Atlantic Wednesday 9pm – Sky Atlantic’s version of “The Bridge” (or Broen in the original Danish/Swedish) has turned out to be good approximation of the original.

Backchat with Jack Whitehall and His Dad – BBC Three Wednesday 10pm – Very amusing.

Snow, Sex and Suspicious Parents BBC Three Tuesday 9pm – Brilliant.
