Secret Santa On A £1 Budget

On Sunday, we told you about Secret Santa, but what if you’re low on money?

If your gift ideas stretch beyond your budget, pound shop secret Santa might just be for you.

It works exactly the same, but the spend limit is set at £1. That’s right £1, to buy your friends, colleagues, housemates or whoever a thrilling Christmas gift.

The good thing about this is, you can either play it safe, or be really bizarre when choosing your present. For those of you who want to take the safe route that is sure to please, head straight to the food section, usually near the tills and pick up a chocolate related present, as most of the chocolate is branded, you can’t really go too far wrong.

If you’re more daring, why not opt for something really unusual or bizarre? (I’m sure Sue, who you’ve never spoken to, would think a cheese grater was a great present). For a gift that’s a bit quirky, why not get something from the toy aisle, a box of cars or a Barbie tea set are sure to go down a treat. The CD and DVD section holds a few gems too, who could ever turn down the greatest hits of someone like Darius or an Emmerdale quiz? You could even opt for something a little more festive, like a santa hat (complete with beard), reindeer ears or a cute little snow globe.

Don’t forget that you can buy just about anything in a pound shop, from toiletries and clothing to baked beans and homeware, you’re bound to find something special.

(It’s important to add that you might look a bit weird when you’re casually browsing the aisles of your local Poundland, no one pops in there for a nosey, especially without knowing exactly what they want).
