What Happened In 2013

As 2014 draws nearer, we thought it’d be a good idea to remind you all what happened that made 2013 so special.

2013 was the year everyone found out they’d been eating horse meat, the world got a new Pope and Sam Evans won Big Brother.

In June, it was 60 years since the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, people across the country held street party’s to celebrate.

In July, after hours of watching a hospital door, the country finally celebrated the birth of Prince George. Other famous babies born this year include North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, who clearly had a sense of humour when thinking of this one. Fearne Cotton and Jesse Wood had little boy Rex in February, Gareth Malone (the man who can make any group of people a choir, regardless of singing ability) and his wife Becky had a son named Gilbert, and the Saturdays welcomed two babies, with Rochelle and Frankie both having children. Oh and Katie Price added to her family with baby Jett Riviera.

Keira Knightley, Katie Price, Denise Welch, Professor Green and Example were among the big names of the year who tied the knot.

At this years VMAs, Miley Cyrus (she used to be Hannah Montana), shocked the world by ‘twerking’ during a performance with Robin Thicke. She’s since gone on to do a number of controversial things.

In sport, Andy Murray made tennis history by being the first British man in 77 years, to win the men’s singles at Wimbledon. He’s since won the Sports Personality of the Year award, who’d have thought that’d ever happen eh? And Manchester United won yet another Premier League trophy, just before the retirement of their manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

By far the most exciting thing to happen this year came in Early October, when Lincoln and that was launched. It has since gone on to become the most visited website in the world (if there are less than 100 visitors to the world wide web).
