We all know New Year TV is a pile of crap compared to Christmas TV. It’s very rare anything remotely decent is on. However, we’re here to help you filter through the crap and hopefully find you a decent watch or 2, whether you’re having a night in or end up spending New Year’s day curled up in a corner bawling…
New Year’s Eve
It’s probably deemed the worst out of the 3 films but it’s still a reasonable watch (mainly to rip the shit out of). Home Alone 3 (1.55pm – 4pm) follows a boy we don’t know because it isn’t Macaulay Culkin fending off four spies who target his house. If you’re a huge Home Alone fan be warned, this film may aggravate you slightly…
Spending New Year’s indoors or not really celebrating? Alan Carr’s New Year Spectacular (9pm – 11.05pm) is guaranteed to (hopefully) give you a few laughs. With music from Tinie Tempah and Katy B and guests James Corden and Keith Lemon, you’ll have an array of entertainment that’s for sure.
There’s no doubt we’ll be watching several Miley Cyrus parodies on the 50 Funniest Moments 2013 (11.05pm – 1.05am). What a way to send us into 2014 eh? No doubt there will be lots of twerking as well. Good god if this is what consisted of 2013 we’re dreading next year…
New Year’s Day
So it’s time for all you drinkers to find a spot in the sofa or wrap yourself up in bed, but what can you watch whilst nursing that hangover? Well…
David Blaine: Real or Magic? (9pm – 10.20pm) will fascinate you. The illusionist (who was once suspended 9 metres in the air by the Thames for 44 days) shows his tricks to many celebrities; including Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston. I mean who doesn’t want to see Jesse and Walt amazed by magic?!
If you haven’t already watched the Big Fat Quiz of the Year (10.20pm-12.20am) then get to it. Dara O’Briain, Kirsten Schaal, Jack Whitehall, Richard Ayoade, Noel Fielding and Jonathan Ross make up a fantastic panel along with Jimmy Carr’s hosting. Although the Radio Times have managed to change Jonathan Ross into a completely different person due to a misprint and he is now apparently Micky Flanagan, the show is still worth a watch, or, if you’ve already seen it, a second watch.
So there you go folks, a fabulous line up to the most wonderful time of the year (a new one). We hope you enjoy. Also look at more TV listings if you want to laugh at more awful New Year programmes and films.
