Lincoln has a lot of bars, it’s the perfect place to be if you love a good bar crawl. With a delightful mix of big chains and independent bars, Kind is one of Lincoln’s unique bars. You’ve probably passed it without even realising.
If you venture far enough up the High Street, you’ll find the path splits off into two directions, but do you follow it to the left or the right? Well if you choose neither, you’ll find yourself in Kind, as it’s kind of in the middle (and the place is called Kind, get it? Isn’t that funny).
Hiding behind the large black double doors, are a range of drinks that are favourites among the locals. As students, we’ve found ourselves drinking from just about anything that can contain liquids, but one of the most unusual things about Kind are their large jam jars of cocktails. 2 litres of cocktail to be precise.
No matter what your cocktail preference, you’re likely to find one to suit your tastes here. One tastes exactly like Dr Pepper (this could be risky as it may go down a bit too well), but a personal favourite is the Beetlejuice, bright blue in colour, it combines rum with fruit juices and a few other things, and it works brilliantly. If you’re lucky, you might get served by an attractive bar worker, and the only thing better than cocktails, are cocktails made by someone attractive.
Deals at Kind often mean that you can get not just one, but two cocktails (or jam jars) for the price of one, absolute bargain.
If cocktails aren’t your kind of thing (we’re nearly done fussing about cocktails now), try one of the many spirits and beers on offer.
To drink your cocktail, you can sit on one of the many comfy leather sofas around a coffee table. The furniture just adds to the relaxed atmosphere. One of the most unique things about this place, are the televisions around the room showing a bizarre selection of clips that don’t match the music, sometimes you can even catch a glimpse of Wallace and Gromit. If you’d like a seat with a view, make your way to one of the two big windows at the front. Here you’ll find bar stools and a high table that closely resembles a bar. The views down the High Street are beautiful, especially in Winter when it’s snowing or the Christmas lights are on.
Kind regularly run open mic nights and sometimes even stand up comedy nights, here you can find some really good local talent. To find out what’s happening visit their Facebook page, where they like to keep everyone updated, such a kind thing to do (no seriously, it’s called Kind and we used the word kind to describe them and it is hilarious).
So whether you’re after the perfect predrinking location or a chilled night out, pop along.
