What comes into your mind when I say the words table top role play? Does it make you think of a stereotypical nerd? I must admit, the first time someone spoke to me about role play, I thought the same.
Tabletop role play is actually fun. Yeah, I said it. It’s fun. Okay, so maybe table top role play reminds you of that episode from the Big Bang Theory where they all play Dungeons and Dragons. If you haven’t seen it here’s a lovely little clip.
Tabletop role play is basically where you play out the role of a character through speech. Everyone playing the game has a sheet where they can create their ideal character and choose their strengths and weaknesses. Different dice are rolled to determine what action your decide your character will take. And well, that’s about it really. To learn more check out Wikipedia page, as I’m not an expert at role play.
But why is tabletop role play fun? I hear you ask. Well, here are some of the reasons:
- You can screw your friends over
For example, you can fight them, steal all their shit and leave them for dead. You can’t exactly do that in real life when Janine eats your last packet of crisps.
- You aren’t on your phone for an entire evening
Sometimes it’s nice to actually put your phone down and be a real human for once. No one likes to be in the company of others who are constantly on their mobiles. It’s annoying hearing this every five seconds.
- It’s a good laugh
Well you tried to save the world but your mate punched a little girl in the face. Who can say that’s happened to them?
- You can prepare
