What To Expect From Tower Bar

According to Wikipedia (aka the World’s best source for information), a tower is “a tall structure, usually taller than it is wide, often by a significant margin.”

Whilst the Tower bar doesn’t really fit this description, it’s nice with a very modern feel and bright, swish furnishings.

They play a mix of music, some of which you won’t have heard in a long while. The Shed often do this too and it’s a nice touch. Hearing those chart toppers constantly can get very tedious though.

The Hub, upstairs, has several booths and is great if you’re visiting in a big group or with a society.

They sell a fairly wide selection of drinks which also happen to be relatively cheap. Their selection of Rekorderlig and Kopperberg is fab.

It’s also on campus, directly next to the library – so if that monstrosity of an essay is getting a bit much for you then it’s the perfect place to go and drown your sorrows.

Another positive is the monthly student quiz (yes, it did used to be weekly,) and in the past the prizes have included things like gig tickets. This is nice, as the acts who perform in the Engine Shed are normally pretty good quality.

Oh, and if you’re into live acoustic music, you should definitely hit the place up every Friday at 1pm. Their Coffee House Sessions are said to be very nice and feature an array of musicians.

Food wise, the chip platters are quite frankly heaven on a plate. And if this doesn’t tempt you, students get a 20% discount. Great, right?
