Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Review

It was shown in 64 countries and 10.2 million tuned in for it. No, we’re not talking about X-Factor because that is just ridiculous. We’re talking about the most beloved British sci-fi show Doctor Who.

Last Saturday old and new fans tuned in to watch the 50th anniversary special. Let’s just say it was…FANTASTIC! (If you haven’t watched it, what are you doing with your life)!?

Steven Moffat was starting to disappoint the fans (or just me) as the villains got worst last year (I’m talking about the cube episode). However, last season it picked itself up bringing back in the old villains and giving other writers the spotlight. Nevertheless this special proved that Moffat still has his mojo and can still create something great that will make the audience cry and laugh.

So what did we see in this episode? We thought we would summarise what made us cry, laugh and the incredible. As River Song will say, “spoilers“.

Moments that made us tear up (basically cry):

  • Tom Baker returning in the end as the curator. (After all the denials he made and the lies he told us, it was still the best surprise you gave us).
  • Ten-inc h with big sad eyes saying “I don’t want to go.”
  • Clara crying and being disappointed in Eleven for about to destroy Gallifrey.
  • The War Doctor asking “Did you count the children?” And Eleven forgot but Ten knew, but the look in Eleven’s eyes then.

Moments that made us laugh:

  • Eleven mocking Ten’s ‘sandshoes’ and The War Doctor agreeing.
  • The War Doctor baffled by the expression of ‘timey-wimey’ and Ten agreed.
  • Ten and Eleven just mocking each other in general.

The incredible moments:

  • The opening credits taken from Classic Who.
  • The special effects of all the Doctors at the end standing together.
  • The War Doctor saying, “all thirteen Doctors.” Then showing Peter Capaldi eyes.
  • Tom Baker.
  • The Doctors.
  • Just the whole special.

Those are our special moments. BUT if you stayed till the end you would have seen the Christmas Special preview also known as Eleven’s last episode, ‘The Time of the Doctor.’ Don’t worry, you can watch it below now.
