Holiday in Handcuffs, a ‘delightful’ Christmas film, stars the actress that played Sabrina in Sabrina the teenage witch (Melissa Joan Hart) and some guy from Saved by the Bell (Mario Lopez).
Let’s make this clear, the film doesn’t have a big budget because the first screen you see is ‘ABC Production.’ The film wasn’t badly shot as it was decent camera work, surprisingly it didn’t look like an amateur shot it.
The plot was simple, cheesy and it would never happen in real life. I know you’re just simply DYING to know right now what it was about! It’s not as the title suggest, it’s not a saucy pornographic film (like come on people, it’s an ABC Family Production, get real with it).
It’s a Christmas family film about Gertude (Melissa) getting dumped by her boyfriend even though she had told her mum she would be bringing him to the family Christmas dinner. So the next alternative she thought of was to kidnap David (Mario) and rename him as Nick. He tried to escape but failed and then he got to know her and started to fall for her. He finally got a hold of a working phone and reported it. Then the police found him and he went back to his original fiancé. He ended up breaking up with her and went back to Gertude and they kissed. The end.
So what was actually wrong with this movie because it sounds “great” so far. Well here is a list:
- Kidnapping is illegal.
- Kidnappers and kidnappees surely don’t fall in love.
- Grandmas do not usually grab a shot gun to shoot the police.
Basically I was on my phone throughout this film playing a Doctor Who game. It was just a background movie.
