What To Expect In Films 2014… Part 1

Okay, so we realised we are heading into the year 2014 (duh)! And we need to bring you all up-to date on the latest films that will be released next year because we are “hip” and we “know” what we’re talking about.

So what should you crazy, hip, film-loving freaks shall keep a look out for? Well these are my choices.

  • American Hustle
From the Director of the Silver Linings Playbook, David O. Russell brings us another hustle of a film. (See what I did there with the hustle. I know your cracking up). With a great cast and rumours already surfacing that Jennifer Lawrence could be up for another round of film nominations..maybe another Oscar? The film is about a con man working with the FBI to take down  Jersey’s powerbrokers and mafia..(as IMDB puts it).
    Release Date: 1st Jan

  • Dallas Buyers Club
Is about a man (Matthew McConaughey) who caught AIDS and decided to go to Mexico to get ALL the drugs. He carries on doing this for others too. The trailer just looks intense. I haven’t done it any justice, but the music and acting sounds and looks all brilliant.
    Release Date: 7th Feb
  • RoboCop  (reboot because film-makers decided it was time even though I would disagree).
If you haven’t seen the 1987 RoboCop then you sci-fi, action and police fighting genre lovers will enjoy this film, but seriously watch the 1987 version is just brilliant. You should have grown up watching it…Anyways, it’s basically a cop gets severely injured in the future and his parts get replaced by machine. He becomes a crime-fighting machine as all hell breaks loose in some State he is located in. BUT SERIOUSLY WATCH THE 1987 ROBOCOP!
    Release Date: 12th Feb
  • Her
It’s a rom-com but it looks like a beautiful rom-com. It’s different from what you’d expect but it stars Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Scarlett Johansson (voice only). Phoenix’s character goes through a break-up and gets this device (Johansson) which he starts falling for and she starts sounding more human. I’m seriously not doing it justice, just watch the trailer.
    Release Date: 14th Feb
  • The Grand Budapest Hotel
It’s a Wes Anderson film. It has Ralph Fiennes, Adrian Brody, Jude Law, Owen Wilson, Edward Norton, Bill Murray and others. (I feel like that is all that needs to be said. I’m not even going to write a synopsis).
    Release Date: 7th March

A picture of the The Grand Budapest Hotel. It;s pink and white with mountains behind it.

  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier
YES! Another Marvel film with the beautiful Chris Evans and the sexy Scarlett Johansson.  This film carries on from where Captain America and Black Widow left off from the Avengers film. He has a new enemy and fights him.
    Release Date: 4th April
  • 22 Jump Street
Did we think there would be a sequel? No!  But they moved the headquarters a door down from 21. (Great way to get away that sequel title). First Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum re-visited a high-school and now they are getting sent back to college to find out who is head of this new drug deal. So the same thing as 21 Jump Street but it all just takes place in college with more hilarious gags from the duo and more action.
    Release Date: 6th June

Your favourite films not on there? Shame, this is what I want to watch. Here are some other films The Railway Man, The Lego Movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Amazing Spiderman 2, Godzilla, 300: Rise of an Empire and Only Lovers Left Alive that are coming out too. But folks we all have to make sacrifices like Noah did so keep an eye out for Part 2 next week.
