What’s On BBC This New Year?

As the New Year is upon us, we need to know what to watch on the last day of 2013 and on the first day of 2014. Again, this is where we come in. We did one for Christmas and we’re doing one for New Years because obviously we know what TV is all about.

We presume the first few channels you will be flicking through are BBC ones. If you checked out our last guide then you would know I was very pleased to say that BBC HAS NO ADS! NO CRUMMY ADS! Therefore we can watch a movie in piece without breaks.  (If this was text chat then a smiley face would be appearing at the end like this 🙂 ).

That tashe wants to tell you what is on New Year’s Day.

Let’s get down to BBC and see what the best three picks of the days will be.

New Year’s Eve

Well there is no reason to get out of bed till 4pm unless you want to watch The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian sequel (1:20pm, BBC 1). The fantasy sequel is okay, but we would recommend getting up in time for How To Train Your Dragon (4:00pm, BBC 1). With the up-coming sequel next year, you may as well refresh your memories by watching How To Train Your Dragon. It’s about a Viking boy, (I know something different in a child’s movie) and he learns how to train a dragon…hence the film title.

Now our next suggestion is a classic film. You know it, we know it, BBC knows it. It stars the handsome Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. Yeah, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (7:10pm, BBC 3). (One of my favourites).  If you haven’t watched any of the Indiana Jones, then what are you doing with your life!? IT’S A CLASSIC! KALI MA…KALI MA…KALI MA! Then your heart is ripped out by my bare hands. (I feel like I went too OTT (over the top)…Family Guy themselves did a gag on this).

Moving on, a great way to end and enter a New Year is to switch to the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Display (11:55pm, BBC 1) on your TV. (Because all of us are too poor to go to London to watch it or just don’t like the cold weather).  Soon as the fireworks are done, you can go to bed. (That seems really nice…a nice comfy bed after watching those fireworks, that just made you exhausted just by looking at them).

New Year’s Day

What is BBC doing to us? They are only going to show us the hit comedy with Tom Hanks, The Terminal (1:20pm, BBC 2). It also stars Catherine Zeta- Jones. A quick summary a man gets stuck at the JFK Airport and he has to live there for a few days, till the airport can sort out his situation. It’s funny and a Tom Hanks classic.

Let’s take a deep breath here because something great is returning to our TVs. Please cue the screams of the Sherlockians (Sherlock’s fanbase). After two whole years, we see the return of Sherlock (9:00pm, BBC 1). Steven Moffat, the cunning guy made us wait 2 years for 3 episodes that are 85-90 minutes long. It has been far too long. In this series, we get to see Watson’s new moustache and importantly how Sherlock survived that fall. This is just a great way to start the New Year.

After that great episode, you would want to flick over because there is nothing like a new episode of Backchat with Jack Whitehall and His Dad (10:25pm, BBC 3).  Just expect laughter from this as they have a look back on the series together.

Enjoy our fine hand picked shows, but don’t forget to see what we have chosen for ITV, Channel 4, Five and those other channels.
