One of the biggest events took place on Sunday 2nd February. It’s called the Superbowl. The Seattle Seahawks vs. Denver Broncos. It was pretty obvious by half time that the Seahawks were going to win, they scored 43 points by the end of the night and only 8 measly points by the Broncos.
What is Superbowl you are now asking? It’s American football, that none of us here at Lincoln and That understand. (Well, I understand bits but the rest might not).
So, how do we explain it? Well we found this nifty explanation on Emily’s Facebook status. (You know Emily? The one that wrote the Kind Bar article and How to tackle Steep Hill).
Alex ( a friend) comments:
They hike the hand egg then they have four downs to go ten yards. The blockers block the big burly men who try to take down the one who goes to throw it. Then the running backs try to get the quaffle through the three hoops at the end of the pitch while the beaters keep the bludgers away. The game doesn’t stop until one of the seekers catches the snitch.
Yeah, maybe he went a bit off the topic… .
Here is a proper explanation from The Linc… A dummies guide to the Superbowl. (It still didn’t help me as I stopped reading it when it started becoming all nonsense).
However, the real question of the night was asked at Tower Bar…
A customer may or may not have just asked how many quarters they play in the Superbowl…
All of us here did really wonder, how the hell did they get into university.
Back to the one hour game that took four hours instead… We had a great performances by Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers in the half time show. A bit disappointed that the RHCP only performed one song, like come on guys I wanted more! GOD-DAMMIT!
Here are some of my favourite tweets of the night.
Dan Preston says:
oh hi Broncos, nice of you to join us. #thanksforpoppingin
This one had me in stitches:
Ste J-A says:
manning is like British rail…unable to work in the cold.
So yeah folks, that was the Superbowl all summed up into one post…. Well sort of… Anyway, don’t forget you can still catch the Superbowl on 4OD.
